Thanks & Prayers

This week we particularly thank Humberto, Catalina and their family for running the taco truck even in the rain, and our generous donor for covering the catering fees.

I thank my God every time I remember you, constantly praying with joy in every one of my prayers for all of you. Phil 1:3-4

Today and during the week we pray for:

  • Those who are sick, suffering or in need:
    • In our parish: Tom, Shan, Grace S, Anne, Bill, Betty Ann, Michelle, Glenda, Christina, and Glen.
    • Throughout the diocese: Sam & family, Elliott, Elain.
  • In the Diocese of Edmonton:
    • Our Bishop, Steve; our Dean, Alex; our Archdeacons; our Canons; and support staff.
    • For Archdeacons: Chelsy, Jonathan, Travis, and Jordan.
    • For St. Mark-Jieng, Edmonton: and their Rector Akon.
  • In our partner Diocese of Buyé:
    • For Vumbi Parish: and their Rector, Mathias.
  • Our siblings in Christ:
    • From Treaty 6 and Treaty 8 First Nations, from the Métis Nation of Alberta, and from the Métis Settlements in Alberta.
    • For all First Nations People of Treaty 6.
  • We pray for this parish of the Good Shepherd
    • For Jordan, our rector; Stacey, our Deacon; Lee, Gary, and Ifuero, our Honorary Assistants; for Anthony and Helen , our lay evangelists; for Ruby, Mark, and Stefan, our lay readers; for Talesa, our Music Director; Natalie our Youth and Family Ministries coordinator; and for Michelle, our Parish Administrator.
    • For our Wardens, our Vestry, our roster of Volunteers, and the Prayer Ministry Team.
  • For all those living in places of unrest:
    • Particularly the Diocese of Buyé in Burundi, Iran, the USA, the UAE, Qatar, Turkey, Lebanon, Syria, Ukraine, Sudan, Congo, Nigeria, and the Holy Land.
    • For those protesting for racial justice, civil and human rights, and all people experiencing violence throughout the world. May the Lord comfort all those affected and may we, as a people, band together in our faith.
    • We pray for the peace of Jerusalem.
  • For all those impacted by natural disasters:
    • For people impacted by extreme weather throughout the world. May the Lord shelter all of those in need, keep our rescue workers safe, and guide our hands and minds as we work to offer aid and prayers.
  • For all whose lives have enriched our own, even though they have died and for those who mourn.

We thank you Lord for all the blessings of this life, for listening to our prayers and petitions, and for always doing what is right for us in your eyes. We thank you for Your blessing on our needs and all whose lives are closely linked with ours: we ask that our Heavenly Father grant that we may bring others to know Jesus, our Lord and Christ, and love one another as He loves us, through the power of the Holy Spirit.

AMEN

Reminders

Prayer List - If you know someone who should be prayed for publicly, please send their name to us at parishadmin@goodshepanglican.org. The list will be refreshed on a regular basis. If you know someone whose prayer request is more private, or who is unknown to the congregation, please ask the Prayer Chain to pray for them by contacting Kathy Lake at kalake@telus.net.

Forward Day by Day - Most of you may know already that our books arrived! Pick up a copy at the back of the Nave for a $2 donation that supports our ability to continue ordering printed copies. You may view the daily devotion online for free here: https://prayer.forwardmovement.org/fdd

Parking Reminder - As our Sunday attendance grows, our parking lot is filling up! While this is good news, it comes with some challenges. Can you please ensure that you are parked inside the lines so that we maximize our space? If you can walk a bit further, can you park at the Sobey's lot to leave space for those who need a shorter journey? Can you leave the visitor parking at the front for visitors who are new to the church? If the parking lot is full, can you be mindful of your driving and not try to force your way into a space too small for you? Think of how you would feel, your first Sunday trying a new church, and someone crashes into your car because they were trying to squeeze into a space too small for them. As we welcome new members, let's make sure our welcome includes making space for parking. Thank you so much for supporting our welcoming culture.

Memorial Bricks - Anyone wishing to purchase a Memorial Brick in the Chapel at Good Shepherd, please speak to Harold or Kathy Lake. A Memorial Brick costs $75.00, and is a lovely and lasting way to honour the memory of your loved ones.

Little Free Pantry - Any donations you bring for the pantry can be placed directly into the pantry, if it is full we have a box in the narthex that items can be placed for restocking. As a reminder, please keep donations to shelf stable pantry items, and keep in mind how packaging or food might be impacted by hot or cold weather. We are in particular need of water and to-go or single serving foods and snacks that can be enjoyed without any cooking needed.

Support Groups that meet at Good Shepherd:
