The 6th Sunday After PentecostHappy Canada Day & Villains of the Bible Sermon Series Join Rev. Stacey for the first week of our summer sermon series: Villains of the Bible, from Church Anew. We're talking about some of the Bible's biggest villains this summer. On our first week we'll meet The Serpent and explore what evil we need to name in our world today. Don't let the comic book graphics trick you into thinking this is a sermon series for kids. We're covering big topics from inadequacy to fear, entitlement to violence, and more! Natalie has also put together worship booklets. The coloring pages and activity sheets can be used during the service, or taken home to carry the lessons on throughout the week. Admin Note: Michelle has been scheduled for her second carpal tunnel release surgery on Monday June 22. She will be out of office for recovery from June 22 until July 6. Thank you all in advance for your prayers for a successful surgery and recovery. |

Happy Canada DayOffice Closed July 1 The Parish Office is closed today. There will not be a worship service at 9:00 AM, or coffee hour at 10:00 AM. We will see you next week. Great Spirit, we praise you for all the wonders you provide for us. We share with you our deep gratitude to be living on Treaty Territories across the country. Today and all days may we celebrate the vibrant heritage of every Indigenous Nation and Tribe of Turtle Island. Let our hands work toward reconciliation, let our ears listen to the histories of the elders, let our voices raise and support the struggles our indigenous siblings still face today. Bless us with grace as we navigate celebrating the country of Canada, and holding space for those who mourn all that was lost or stolen in it's creation. We humbly ask this in the name of Creator Sets Free, your Chosen Son. Amen. |

Volunteer and Outreach UpdatesGet Involved at Good Shepherd World Cup Watch Party Hosts Help us host free watch parties of World Cup matches at Good Shepherd. If you are available to open the church, help with clean up after a match or bring some snacks to share let us know. You can sign up in the Narthex or email Michelle at parishadmin@goodshepanglican.org Summer Coffee Host Invitation Coffee Hour after church is a big part of our fellowship ministry. We need folks who don't mind coming to church a bit early to get the coffee urn steeping, or staying a bit late to wipe down the tables. Learning how to run the coffee urn only takes a few minutes, once it's set up our coffee hosts can head into the Nave and enjoy the service. When announcements start is when you get the kettle boiling for the teapot. During Coffee Hour most people are quick to put their used dishes in the dishwasher so clean up is a breeze. You don't even need to like coffee to be a part of our Coffee Host Team! Vacation Bible School Vacation Bible School (VBS) planning continues. Join us to host dinner and the "Just Like Me" program. VBS dates are July 30, Aug, 6, 13, 20, and 27, times will be confirmed soon. If you would like to participate as a dinner host, station leader, set up team, clean up team, or support our August VBS plans in any other way please let Natalie or Michelle know. Summer Service Volunteers The Summer Roster is in progress, the first two weeks of July are posted online and printed in the Narthex. |
Thanks & Prayers
This week we particularly thank RAMMS for hosting a BBQ last Sunday and for all they do to support the church and our community. I thank my God every time I remember you, constantly praying with joy in every one of my prayers for all of you. Phil 1:3-4 Today and during the week we pray for:
We thank you Lord for all the blessings of this life, for listening to our prayers and petitions, and for always doing what is right for us in your eyes. We thank you for Your blessing on our needs and all whose lives are closely linked with ours: we ask that our Heavenly Father grant that we may bring others to know Jesus, our Lord and Christ, and love one another as He loves us, through the power of the Holy Spirit. AMEN |
Reminders
Prayer List - If you know someone who should be prayed for publicly, please send their name to us at parishadmin@goodshepanglican.org. The list will be refreshed on a regular basis. If you know someone whose prayer request is more private, or who is unknown to the congregation, please ask the Prayer Chain to pray for them by contacting Kathy Lake at kalake@telus.net. Forward Day by Day - Most of you may know already that our books arrived! Pick up a copy at the back of the Nave for a $2 donation that supports our ability to continue ordering printed copies. You may view the daily devotion online for free here: https://prayer.forwardmovement.org/fdd Parking Reminder - As our Sunday attendance grows, our parking lot is filling up! While this is good news, it comes with some challenges. Can you please ensure that you are parked inside the lines so that we maximize our space? If you can walk a bit further, can you park at the Sobey's lot to leave space for those who need a shorter journey? Can you leave the visitor parking at the front for visitors who are new to the church? If the parking lot is full, can you be mindful of your driving and not try to force your way into a space too small for you? Think of how you would feel, your first Sunday trying a new church, and someone crashes into your car because they were trying to squeeze into a space too small for them. As we welcome new members, let's make sure our welcome includes making space for parking. Thank you so much for supporting our welcoming culture. Memorial Bricks - Anyone wishing to purchase a Memorial Brick in the Chapel at Good Shepherd, please speak to Harold or Kathy Lake. A Memorial Brick costs $75.00, and is a lovely and lasting way to honour the memory of your loved ones. Little Free Pantry - Any donations you bring for the pantry can be placed directly into the pantry, if it is full we have a box in the narthex that items can be placed for restocking. As a reminder, please keep donations to shelf stable pantry items, and keep in mind how packaging or food might be impacted by hot or cold weather. We are in particular need of water and to-go or single serving foods and snacks that can be enjoyed without any cooking needed.
If these are supports that you find helpful, thank you for doing what you need to take care of yourself.
Curious about other news in the diocese? Second, you can EMT (email money transfer) to treasurer@goodshepanglican.org. Please include your full name and address with the transfer so we can make sure that tax receipts are sent out properly. |
