Taqueria Rivera started selling delicious Mexican food at farmer's markets on weekends and are excited for the opportunity to expand to weekdays as well. Volunteer and Outreach UpdatesGet Involved at Good Shepherd August Vacation Bible School & Toddler Time Vacation Bible School (VBS) planning for this August continues. Join us to host dinner and the "Just Like Me" program. VBS dates are July 31, Aug, 6, 13, 20, and 27, times will be confirmed soon. If you would like to participate as a dinner host, station leader, set up team, clean up team, or support our August VBS plans in any other way please let Natalie or Michelle know. April & May Roster The April roster is complete, please check your emails or the bulletin board in the Narthex to confirm when you are scheduled. There are some extra copies available on the greeting table for folks that don't have email access. Safe Church Updates & Training Can you believe it's already been 3 years since the Diocese launched the Safe Church Policy? Over those 3 years at least 36 of our parish members have given their time and expertise to youth programs and outreach ministry for vulnerable people of all ages. A whopping 23 volunteers, including Michelle and Natalie are due for Safe Church Training, new police checks, or both. Please keep an eye on your emails as we work to contact folks and get everyone up to date again. We are truly grateful to those able to give their time and energy to ensure Good Shepherd is a place safe for every person who walks through its doors. Volunteer Opportunities We are looking for a small group of volunteers to help sort & organize our music library. It’s important to honour the investment folks have made over the years to grow our music library, we have a lot of music books, choral song books, loose sheet music and more. If you have a passion for music and an interest in organizing, we would greatly appreciate your help! Reach out to Michelle at parishadmin@goodshepanglican.org for more information. |
Reminders
Prayer List - If you know someone who should be prayed for publicly, please send their name to us at parishadmin@goodshepanglican.org. The list will be refreshed on a regular basis. If you know someone whose prayer request is more private, or who is unknown to the congregation, please ask the Prayer Chain to pray for them by contacting Kathy Lake at kalake@telus.net. Forward Day by Day - Most of you may know already that our books arrived! Pick up a copy at the back of the Nave for a $2 donation that supports our ability to continue ordering printed copies. You may view the daily devotion online for free here: https://prayer.forwardmovement.org/fdd Parking Reminder - As our Sunday attendance grows, our parking lot is filling up! While this is good news, it comes with some challenges. Can you please ensure that you are parked inside the lines so that we maximize our space? If you can walk a bit further, can you park at the Sobey's lot to leave space for those who need a shorter journey? Can you leave the visitor parking at the front for visitors who are new to the church? If the parking lot is full, can you be mindful of your driving and not try to force your way into a space too small for you? Think of how you would feel, your first Sunday trying a new church, and someone crashes into your car because they were trying to squeeze into a space too small for them. As we welcome new members, let's make sure our welcome includes making space for parking. Thank you so much for supporting our welcoming culture. Memorial Bricks - Anyone wishing to purchase a Memorial Brick in the Chapel at Good Shepherd, please speak to Harold or Kathy Lake. A Memorial Brick costs $75.00, and is a lovely and lasting way to honour the memory of your loved ones. Little Free Pantry - Any donations you bring for the pantry can be placed directly into the pantry, if it is full we have a box in the narthex that items can be placed for restocking. As a reminder, please keep donations to shelf stable pantry items, and keep in mind how packaging or food might be impacted by hot or cold weather. We are in particular need of water and to-go or single serving foods and snacks that can be enjoyed without any cooking needed.
If these are supports that you find helpful, thank you for doing what you need to take care of yourself.
Curious about other news in the diocese? Second, you can EMT (email money transfer) to treasurer@goodshepanglican.org. Please include your full name and address with the transfer so we can make sure that tax receipts are sent out properly. |
Thanks & Prayers
This week we particularly thank Harold for cleaning the graffiti from the courtyard. I thank my God every time I remember you, constantly praying with joy in every one of my prayers for all of you. Phil 1:3-4 Today and during the week we pray for:
We thank you Lord for all the blessings of this life, for listening to our prayers and petitions, and for always doing what is right for us in your eyes. We thank you for Your blessing on our needs and all whose lives are closely linked with ours: we ask that our Heavenly Father grant that we may bring others to know Jesus, our Lord and Christ, and love one another as He loves us, through the power of the Holy Spirit. AMEN |
