Rev. Tom was an Albertan who, after a career in IT, discerned a call to the priesthood in the early 2000s. He was ordained a deacon in 2007 by Bishop Victoria Matthews and completed summer internships as a hospital chaplain at University of Alberta Hospital, St. Aidan and St. Hilda, and St. Luke’s. In 2009 he was ordained a priest by Bishop Jane Alexander and served as rector of St. John the Divine in Onoway, and as interim priest at St. Mary Abbots’. When he accepted the position of Honourary Assistant at Good Shepherd in 2014, he quickly became a part of the heart of our church. He dedicated much of his time to outreach work and providing services throughout the city for people who struggled to attend church on their own. He loved to hear the stories of everyone around him and shared his own experiences with a humble voice. He was a kind-hearted and thoughtful man, who tried to know each person that he met, and he had a knack for making you feel like the only person in a crowded room. He loved his wife Linda deeply and was incredibly proud of their 3 sons. Rev. Tom will live on in the hearts of the many people he met and cared for.

We invite you to share any photos you have of him by adding them to the poster at the church, or emailing them to Michelle (parishadmin@goodshepanglican.org) . While we mourn his passing together, let us remember the many gifts he shared with others and celebrate the beauty of his life.

Details of his funeral will be shared once they are available.
