WHAT DO YOU BELIEVE?

Great question! Good Shepherd is an Anglican Church, part of the Anglican Church of Canada and in full communion with Anglican and Episcopal churches all over the world. As Anglicans, we believe that the God who created the universe came to be known to us in his Son, Jesus Christ, and is still present with us in the person of the Holy Spirit. Head on over to our Our Beliefs page for a more in-depth explanation of our beliefs!

CAN I RECEIVE COMMUNION?

Absolutely. We invite all baptized Christians to receive the bread and the wine, no matter how long it's been, what denomination you're from, or what you've been practising since. If you have not yet been baptized, you are welcome to come forward to receive a blessing. Simply cross your arms over your chest (like you are making the Wakanda salute!) to communicate your desire for a blessing to the priest.

Both bread and wine will be offered. The practice of intinction (dipping the wafer into the wine) will not be allowed. We have received scientific evidence that sharing the common cup is more hygienic, counterintuitive though that may be. Communicants who are not comfortable drinking from the shared chalice and who wish to receive in one kind only should be assured they have received all spiritual benefits thereby.
If you have not yet been baptized but would like to learn more, please see here.

WHERE SHOULD MY KIDS GO?

Kids are welcome at Good Shepherd! One Sunday per month, we celebrate a Green, Growing Sunday that is designed for and led by the children and youth of the parish. On other Sundays, most kids choose to participate in the Kids' Table that meets in the narthex (lobby), from the beginning of the service until Holy Communion, when they come back in to receive communion with their families. But if your child would prefer to sit with you throughout worship, they will be very welcome!
