Raise the Roof CampaignCampaign Launch and Brunch - Sunday, October 18, 2026 Help us Raise the Roof! For over 35 years, Good Shepherd has been a place of worship, fellowship, celebration, comfort, and community. Today, we are called to care for the building that has cared for us. Our goal is to raise $300,000 over 5 years for roof repairs and maintenance. Our building is more than bricks and mortar. It is where children are baptized, ministries serve the community, families gather, friendships are formed, and faith is nurtured! Together we can ensure Good Shepherd remains strong and welcoming for generations to come. The Good Shepherd Fundraising Commitee invites you to join us for brunch on Sunday, October 18 after the church service to celebrate both the 35th Anniversary of being in this building and the launch of the Raise the Roof Campaign. Brunch will include a pancake bar with fresh fruit toppings, salad, light refreshments and of course coffee and tea. Please email Janice at Janice.Gerbrandt@rcmflourish.ca to RSVP, or add your name to the sign up sheet in the Nave. The recommended donation for brunch is $10 per person, tax receipts can be issued for any donated amount above $10. How you can help power our mission:

Volunteer and Outreach UpdatesGet Involved at Good Shepherd Winter Volunteer Preparation We pray that we are still a few months away from snow, however, when snow happens we need to ensure the church entrance and sidewalks are safe and accessible. If you or your family would like to help with snow and ice removal around our entrance this winter email Michelle at parishadmin@goodshepanglican.org. Thoughts on Stewardsip Good Shepherd's stewardship season will begin in October. Tody we invite you to reflect on what skills and time you have to help us take care of Good Shepherd over the next year. Stewardship can look a little different for each of us. Folks feeling called to leadership will enjoy supporting the fundraising committee or attending the vestry meetings. People with tighter schedules might find a better fit volunteering for Sunday worship, filling the community pantry, joining a fellowship group like Book Study or helping with annual outreach programs like the inner city lunch. If you are feeling called to help but aren't sure where to start reach out to any staff, clergy member, or warden to learn what volunteer opportunities fit best for you. |

Thanks & Prayers
This week we particularly thank Dunluce Community League for there generous donations in support of our community pantry. I thank my God every time I remember you, constantly praying with joy in every one of my prayers for all of you. Phil 1:3-4 Today and during the week we pray for:
We thank you Lord for all the blessings of this life, for listening to our prayers and petitions, and for always doing what is right for us in your eyes. We thank you for Your blessing on our needs and all whose lives are closely linked with ours: we ask that our Heavenly Father grant that we may bring others to know Jesus, our Lord and Christ, and love one another as He loves us, through the power of the Holy Spirit. AMEN |
Information
Prayer List - If you know someone who should be prayed for publicly, please send their name to us at parishadmin@goodshepanglican.org. The list will be refreshed on a regular basis. If you know someone whose prayer request is more private, or who is unknown to the congregation, please ask the Prayer Chain to pray for them by contacting Kathy Lake at kalake@telus.net. Forward Day by Day - Most of you may know already that our books arrived! Pick up a copy at the back of the Nave for a $2 donation that supports our ability to continue ordering printed copies. You may view the daily devotion online for free here: https://prayer.forwardmovement.org/fdd Phone & Tablet Use During Worship - Please remember to put cell phones and tablets on silent or vibrate during worship services. Be mindful when using phones and tablets during services, we know thay can be a helpful tool for folks of all ages and in some cases have become a necessary part of health monitoring and accessibility. They are also difficult to step away from and can distract others, as well as ourselves. To the extent that is possible, we invite worshippers to put devices away and step into God's presence during worship. Allow yourself the space to be fully present with Our Lord and with your siblings in Christ for this one hour each week. In an emergency, please step into the narthex to take a call or otherwise manage the noise of your device. Thank you for your dedication to worship and your kindness to your fellow worshippers. Parking Reminder - As our Sunday attendance grows, our parking lot is filling up! While this is good news, it comes with some challenges. Can you please ensure that you are parked inside the lines so that we maximize our space? If you can walk a bit further, can you park at the Sobey's lot to leave space for those who need a shorter journey? Can you leave the visitor parking at the front for visitors who are new to the church? If the parking lot is full, can you be mindful of your driving and not try to force your way into a space too small for you? Think of how you would feel, your first Sunday trying a new church, and someone crashes into your car because they were trying to squeeze into a space too small for them. As we welcome new members, let's make sure our welcome includes making space for parking. Thank you so much for supporting our welcoming culture. Memorial Bricks - Anyone wishing to purchase a Memorial Brick in the Chapel at Good Shepherd, please speak to Harold or Kathy Lake. A Memorial Brick costs $75.00, and is a lovely and lasting way to honour the memory of your loved ones. Little Free Pantry - Any donations you bring for the pantry can be placed directly into the pantry, if it is full we have a box in the narthex that items can be placed for restocking. As a reminder, please keep donations to shelf stable pantry items, and keep in mind how packaging or food might be impacted by hot or cold weather. We are in particular need of water and to-go or single serving foods and snacks that can be enjoyed without any cooking needed.
If these are supports that you find helpful, thank you for doing what you need to take care of yourself.
Curious about other news in the diocese? Second, you can EMT (email money transfer) to treasurer@goodshepanglican.org. Please include your full name and address with the transfer so we can make sure that tax receipts are sent out properly. |
