Liturgical Arts Guild
This new group is looking for members to work on banners, and other church articles. If you are interested in being part of this group, please speak to Cathleen Matthews who is the coordinator.
Outreach Committee
The Outreach Committee in conjunction with the Youth Group
had an "All Night Vigil" fundraiser for Aids/HIV on Saturday, March 24th. Approximately $1050 was raised for Primates World Relief and Development Fund who committed to raise 1 million dollars.
The evening commenced with a Vigil Service at 7 PM. Lots came out to support the Youth and the Outreach committee.
To explain the disease to younger children the Sunday School were read a story "The Remarkable Maria". For the group age 18-35 a package is available please fell free to take one home if you have someone in your family this age.
Pastor Tim Leslie came and spoke to us on Nov. 19/06 about The Kipnes Centre for Veterans and the ways in which the community could help.
The Committee this year is sponsoring Our House. This is a facility for men with addictions, started and supported through St. Stephen the Martyr, Anglican Church in Edmonton.
The following is their wish list:
Single size bed sheet sets and quilts, large roast pans, plumbed in coffee maker, bingo volunteers, bus tickets, coffee supplies, non-perishable food items, healthy snacks, toiletries - shampoo, soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, razors, ball equipment, positive reading books, musical instruments, and drivers to take clients to 12 step meetings
If you are able to help in any way please bring to the church by mid December and they will be taken to Our House.
Music Ministries
Cathy Smith advises the contemporary music group "The Shepherd Singers" are practicing again on Thursday nights at 7:30 pm. The traditional choir practices on Thursdays as well.
Anyone interested in participating in either of the adult groups is asked to speak to Cathy.
Fellowship Committee
The plan was to have a Third Annual Event for a fundraiser but the hall rental fell through even though we had a signed contract. We are planning to hold it in the spring of 2009.
Other ongoing fundraisers are: Bottle recycle - recycle your pop, alcohol, or drink containers
Paper recycle - recycle your newspapers in the bin at the church
Calendar sales - buy a church calendar - $5 each
Coaster sales - buy a coaster with the church on it - $10 each
